Our Beginnings

Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church was born in October 1997. Starting from humble beginnings with only 29 members, most of them children, under the leadership of Pastor Marchall Brunson.

From October 1997 to February 1998, church services were held in the Knightdale home of one of our faithful members, members had to walk through the kitchen to the living room, where worship services were held. God blessed the faith and commitment of that small band of believers and within four months the former Grace Baptist Church became our home. In February 1998, Pastor Brunson and his army of 29 faithful disciples marched into their new home at 524 Sunnybrook Road, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In January 1999, the Morning Star Child Care Learning Center opened filling a desperate need in the community for affordable childcare. The center was staffed with a full-time director, and two teachers. The center currently has over 35 children enrolled on a year round basis.

"You serve God by serving God's people," states Pastor Brunson. His vision, to reach out and help those in need, came to fruition in July 2001 as the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church family held it's first "Christmas in July". Efforts were so successful that it was conducted for Thanksgiving and Christmas and has become an annual celebration of giving.

In the Spring of 2002, the vision manifested itself by way of a complete renovation of the sanctuary. The vision of a renewed sanctuary was a reality, complete with custom seating and chandelier lighting.

In 2008 after much prayer and thought Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church became Morning Star World Harvest Ministries. The vision of the ministry is to be an International Church home to members of all nations.

God has blessed Morning Star World Harvest Ministries with a tremendous Shepherd Pastor Marchall Brunson. As he often says, "Others may out preach me, but they'll never out love my people."
